Reliable measurement for industrial process instrumentation
“The most rewarding projects I worked on were in Research and Development”, states TMC's Mechanicals Employeneur Josep Garces Pellicer. “For example, I have developed a solar system for electric cars which was a very challenging assignment commissioned by a University in Spain. But when this project ended, I came to The Netherlands because of the better opportunities. I looked for a project where I could develop myself as a mechanical engineer. My heart lies in this field of work because of the freedom to use my creativity in designing new products”, he says.
Josep applied at TMC and within no-time he started to work at a high tech company called KROHNE. “KROHNE is a market-leader in electromagnetic flow meter technology. This technology can be applied in the food and beverage industry, where products are processed under hygienic conditions. But also in the chemicals industry, in the pulp and paper industry, or in the metal and mining industry where media with a high solid content are encountered”, Josep explains.
At KROHNE Josep works on an innovative product. “Unfortunately I cannot introduce the product I work on, because it is highly confidential”, he says. But Josep can tell something about his contribution in the creation of flow meters. Josep: “There are different methods of measurement of conducting and non-conducting liquids, gases and steam which depend on the conductivity of the flow. The flow meters accumulate a fixed volume of fluid and then count the number of times the volume is filled to measure flow. The most challenging part of this project is to discover if I have used the right material and made a reliable calculation in my design. If the product works well and won't break, it gives me a lot of satisfaction.”
Josep is clearly a very ambitious man and his plans for the future are ready. “I am glad to be a part of TMC. I can work on various projects and in different companies. So I see a lot of potential for myself in the future and the possibility to reach my ultimate goal. Which is to always improve my mechanical engineering skills”
