A way of life

"I travel a lot, it is a way of life. My work schedule is unpredictable and very adventurous. Working in Field Service means meeting new people, countries and cultures," says Hendrik van der Wal, "and to quickly adapt to them," he adds immediately. Hendrik works as a Mechanical Field Service Engineer at VMI, a manufacturer of construction tape machines that produce tires for cars and light trucks. "After a client has ordered a machine, the Field Service Engineer installs it on location," Hendrik explains. "In most cases there are more subcontractors involved, but I am always the one to start the install and the one who stays the longest. VMI takes care of all the logistics, so I can really focus on the project."

"One of my top projects was with Pirelli, the Italian manufacturer of tires for luxury cars. We planned to stay six weeks, but completed the project in two weeks. Timing is one of the unpredictable aspects of my work. In any case, I never know where I will be working next month."

Hendrik started at TMC in July 2013. To him, TMC was an eye-opener. "The company helped me to give my career a new start. My wife even urges me never to quit TMC, because they treat me so well and they always offer help. I love travelling and for me field service really is a way of live."
