Dare to Innovate
In an interview in today’s Dutch Het Financiële Dagblad, director Jan Pelle presents the intention of his Brabantse Ontwikkelings Maatschappij (Brabant Development Agency, BOM) to boost the technology drive in this southern part of the Netherlands.
“Innovation”, he states, “is not a goal as such. We focus on solutions for the bigger problems. We focus on sustainable growth, health, and on social and economic equality.”
The BOM is a publically owned development agency, not an investment fund. “It is not about money. It is about the system, the way we face the challenges of this planet.”
The BOM moves a lot of money – over € 300 billion – to invest in hypo projects and initiatives, but also shares its knowledge and its connections to start-ups and newcomers to the region. Its initiatives strengthen the socio-economic web to drive technological innovation in the region. “As a public agency I always need to connect our efforts to the economic growth of our province.”
